Carrie JohnstoneCarrie Johnstone joined Pitts Veterinary Hospital in May 2001 as the Practice Manager. She graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biology. During college she worked as a kennel staff member and grooming assistant at a boarding facility. She also completed a veterinary internship during her last semester of college. Carrie enjoys working at Pitts Veterinary Hospital because she gets to work with a great group of caring individuals. Our doctors are very educated, diverse, and stay up with the latest technology and veterinary information. Pitts Veterinary Hospital has a wonderful reputation and a family oriented atmosphere. We also have some of the best clients and patients!

In 2009, Carrie completed course work through Hill’s Pet Nutrition to become a Veterinary Nutritional Advocate. In April 2010, she also attended and completed level one of AAHA’s Veterinary Management School in Denver, Colorado.

Carrie’s furry family members include: Nellie (All American Dog), Beef (Olde English Bulldogge), Buckett (Labrador Retriever, black), Harley (Pekingese/Shih Tzu), Oliver (Himalayan), Emmy Lou (tortie DSH), Mina (DMH tabby, mother of Emmy), Finnegan (LH Siamese Cross), and four female Dumbo Rats. Nellie, Beef, and Buckett have all earned their Canine Good Citizens Certifications. Carrie is a member of Greater Lincoln Obedience Club and teaches obedience and tricks class. She also plays agility with Buckett and shows at CPE, AKC, and VSDAA agility trials.

Carrie is married and is the mother of two young boys who keep her very busy! She enjoys spending time outside, reading books, listening to music, and cooking for and spending time with her pets and extended family and friends.

Matt BruceMatt Bruce, Hospital Inventory Manager, came to Pitts Veterinary Hospital in January of 2000. He enjoys working at Pitts, he says, "because our veterinarians and staff aim to provide quality care that is customized to meet the specific needs of each animal." He takes pleasure in organizing and stocking a selection of medications and materials that allow the hospital to deliver great veterinary treatment.

Matt earned both a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

Matt owns two dogs with his new wife. When he is not at the hospital, Matt enjoys biking, hiking, movies, music, reading, writing and Husker football.
